Supporting Veterans in Care

Veterans Dementia Support UK ensures veterans in care receive equal support as those in the community. Many lack family ties and face isolation. We offer outreach and support to care and nursing homes, helping veterans stay connected with others from the wider community.

VOLUNTEER VETERANS’ BEFRIENDERS

Trained volunteers will visit veterans regularly to establish a rapport. Activities may include conversation, playing board games, and discussing experiences from military service.

DEMENTIA SUPPORT GROUPS

Veterans with dementia may have distinct experiences related to their operational duties. To address their specific needs, home-based support groups for veterans and their families will be offered, led by an experienced team member.

DEMENTIA ACTIVTIES FOR VETERANS AND FAMILIES

We offer various activity and reminiscing sessions for Armed Forces veterans, led by trained Wellbeing and Lifestyle Team Members. These sessions are also available to non-veterans.

ARMED FORCES RELATED EVENTS IN CARE HOMES

Our team can help care homes organise military-themed events and arrange them upon request.
