CARING FOR THE CARERS

We are here to support the loved ones who are the carers too

Friends

BREAKOUT GROUPS

Families and carers are equally supported. We know that caring for someone with dementia can be isolating, so our hubs provide opportunities to share experiences and access practical guidance.

  • We offer a trusted space where relatives can:

  • Speak openly about their daily challenges.

  • Receive emotional support and reassurance from others who understand.

  • Access reliable signposting and resources.

Our Impact

  • The impact of our work is significant and transformative. By engaging with our services, the veteran community experiences:

  • Improved Wellbeing: Reduced loneliness and a stronger sense of identity and purpose.

  • Maintained Independence: Veterans retain their independence for longer, leading to fewer crisis-point interventions.

  • Resilient Families: Carers report feeling better informed, more resilient, and less alone in their caring role.

Growing Our Community

  • Veterans Dementia Support UK is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate support that honours the service and sacrifice of our veteran community, both locally and nationally.

  • Working alongside our partners and dedicated teams of volunteers, we are actively creating community Support Sessions across Southern England and beyond.

On-Demand Support: Wherever and Whenever You Need It

We know that challenges don’t keep office hours. For the times when life feels overwhelming and you just need an informal, friendly chat, we ensure you never have to carry the weight alone.

We offer flexible, digital support channels designed to fit around your daily routine:

  • Daily Phone & WhatsApp Support: Connect informally with our team on the phone or via a quick WhatsApp message. Whether you need a listening ear during a tough day or just want to send a quick text to vent, we are here for you daily.

  • Our Private Online Carer Forum (Coming Soon): We are creating a dedicated, secure online space exclusively for carers. This forum allows you to share concerns, voice frustrations, and exchange practical ideas with a community that truly gets it—24/7.

Need a chat today? You don't have to wait for the next carers support session to get connected - drop us a message or text or phone us anytime between 9am - 10pm. Leave a message if we are busy

FACE TO FACE CHATS

For many carers, finding the time or energy to connect with someone who truly understands your reality can feel nearly impossible. We want to make that connection as easy, natural, and comfortable for you as possible.

Whether you prefer meeting in person or chatting from the comfort of your own home, we offer two deeply personal ways to connect:

Peer Support Coffee & Chat: Where possible, we can pair you with a volunteer who has personal, lived experience of caring for someone with dementia. They will meet you for a casual coffee and a chat at a time and place that is convenient and comfortable for you.

Confidential Video Calls: If you cannot leave the house or get away for a break, you don't have to miss out on face-to-face support. We offer a secure, online video service where you can chat face-to-face with one of our team members, see a friendly face, and speak openly in total confidence.

☕ Want to connect? Whether you'd prefer a coffee in town or a private video call from your living room, we are here to accommodate you. - just give us a ring

SOCIALISING

We all know that there are times when as carers we would love to go out with friends socially for a few hours and be yourself

We arrange social events throughout the year for carers to come and relax and be you!
